Skadden Fellowship
Farmworker
Justice invites third-year law students or judicial clerks to apply
for Farmworker Justice sponsorship of a Skadden fellowship beginning
in the fall of 2009.
Farmworker
Justice is a national not-for-profit organization located in
Washington, DC. Farmworker Justice offers a unique opportunity to
work on behalf of migrant and seasonal farmworkers on the
critically-important issues of immigration, labor, and occupational
safety and health. Using a multi-faceted
approach, Farmworker Justice engages in litigation, administrative
and legislative advocacy, training and technical assistance,
coalition-building, public education and support for union
organizing. Our staff collaborates with talented, dedicated
people all over the country to empower farmworkers to improve their
working and living conditions. Farmworker Justice has a respected
national reputation for its 27 years of high-quality, creative

Farmworker
Justice will work with the fellowship applicant closely to create a
project that advances farmworker rights in one of our priority
areas: immigration, labor, and occupational safety and health
issues.
Candidates must submit a résumé,
cover letter, transcript, three references, and a writing sample
demonstrating the following qualifications:
Strong commitment to the
mission of Farmworker Justice and to improving living and working
conditions for migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Demonstrated
commitment to social justice and civil rights for low-wage workers.
Excellent research and writing
skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
and comfort speaking Spanish in public is preferred, but not
required.
Highly organized, with
attention to detail, and strong organizational and administrative
skills.
