JOB OPPORTUNITY: FARMWORKER
JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP
Farmworker Justice (FJ), a non-profit advocacy, litigation and
education organization, based in Washington, D.C. and serving
migrant and seasonal farmworkers across the country, seeks a highly
qualified, motivated individual for the Farmworker Justice
Fellowship, a new position. The individual will support FJ’s work
on occupational and environmental health, labor rights and
immigration policy.
The Fellowship is a paid, full-time position with health insurance
and other benefits for one year with a potential renewal of a second
year. It will provide an exciting opportunity to provide
farmworkers and their organizations with technical and program
support and to assist FJ attorneys on litigation and policy
advocacy. The individual will
- Monitor
developments on occupational and environmental health issues
affecting migrant and seasonal farmworkers, including pesticide
safety;
- Engage in
research, analysis and logistical support for advocacy in Congress
and the Administration in the fields of occupational health, labor
rights and immigration policy;
- Support
litigation against government agencies to reform policies and
against employers for systemic violations of workers’ rights;
- Support
general organizational activities, including writing articles
for newsletters and website content, assisting Board of Directors,
and organizing resource materials;
- Help provide
technical assistance to community health centers and medical
personnel who serve migrant and seasonal farmworkers.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree a plus

Excellent research, written and oral communication skills

Ability to work in a team as well as independently on multiple
projects

Well-organized and detail-oriented

Strong commitment to the mission of Farmworker Justice

Proficiency in Spanish is preferred
